Performance assessment of Ellipse in automotive applications

Testing our sensor accuracy in different environments
Our Ellipse-D has been put to the test. We assessed the performance of our Ellipse-D miniature INS/GNSS in automotive applications and different GNSS environments to test the sensor’s behavior in real-life representative conditions for an INS.
Various tests were conducted over a period of 2 months in the following settings:
- Open sky conditions
- Light urban area
- Canopy
- Dense and demanding urban environment
Two versions of our miniature sensor were tested:
- one with RTK corrections and odometer output
- one real-time standalone Ellipse without RTK corrections nor odometer outputs
The sbgDatalogger tool was used to record the Ellipse’s data in real time and for post-processing. Both Ellipse were compared to a post-processed FOG-based ground truth: our Horizon IMU (included in our Navsight Solution).
The analysis was conducted using cumulative distribution function (CDF) and percentiles repartitions to provide better metrics than “industry standard” RMS (Root Mean Square) or normal distributions methods.
