IG-500N used by Yves Rossy

October 26th, 2009

SBG Systems has completed a partnership with Yves Rossy and EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) to integrate the IG-500N into the ambitious project JetMan. The JetMan project is a rigid composite wing powered by 4 JetCat engines directly attached to a man allowing an impressive controlled flight.

Sensors Expo

The IG-500N is a miniature GPS enhanced Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) that provides a drift-free and accurate 3D orientation, velocity and position at high update rates. With this device, Yves Rossy will be able to monitor his flight and thus improve the aerodynamics, stability and efficiency of his system.

The small size, accuracy and robustness of the IG-500N are perfectly suitable for such a challenging application.

About Yves Rossy and the Jet Man

Yves Rossy is a professional pilot that sucessfully flew with a wing attached on his back in November 2006, in Bex, for 5 minutes and 40 seconds after more than 5 years of research and trials.

Recently, on September, 26th 2008, Yves Rossy successfully completed an amazing challenge and became the first man to fly across the English Channel from Calais.

His next project is to fly over the Grand Canyon in the United States!
